Dirt Cake

Spring is here!! I just wish it wasn’t so cold still. The kids requested dirt cake. Perfect for spring, family time, and dreaming of warmer tomorrows.

Ingredients

5.9oz Instant Chocolate Pudding

2 Cups Milk

16 Oreos

8oz Cool Whip

8oz Gummy Worms

Directions

Separate Oreo cream into a large bowl and cookie ends into a smaller bowl (or Ziploc bag depending on preferred method for crushing).

Crumble cream between fingers, and crush cookies with the back of a spoon (or rolling pin in bag).

Add milk, then pudding mix, to bowl with the cream. Stir until well blended for 2 minutes. Mix in Cool Whip until just blended.

Spread out pudding mixture in 9×13 pan. Cover with crushed Oreo cookies. Place gummy worms in dirt.

Alternatively, for individual servings, layer the pudding and Oreo in small clear cups. Add a surprise worm at the bottom of the cup to start.

I always do the individual cups with the kids, so they can each make their own. We made 10- 0.5 cup containers, and a generous amount left to scrap the bowl. The ones pictured turned out the prettiest but others had more “dirt” layers.

Here is a picture from 11 years ago, the first time I made this dirt cake. I double stacked and frosted cupcakes to look like pumpkins for a Halloween party. May have to recreate this next year.
